Week 1 Steve Hacker's Hitting Building Blocks

Outline & Summary of Week 2 Hitting Program

1. Key Focus: Lower Half Balance and Control

  • Closed front foot: 45° or less through contact and follow-through.

  • Firm front side: straight or slight bend (avoid locking or collapsing).

  • Back knee drive: knee moves toward pitcher.

  • Back foot: “shoelaces to center, heel to sky.”

  • Back leg: forms an “L.”

  • Power gap: maintain wide base with visible space between legs.

Five Checkpoints (memorize after each swing):

  1. Closed front foot

  2. Firm front side

  3. Back foot – shoelaces to center, heel to sky

  4. Back leg L

  5. Significant gap space

2. Weekly Preparation

  • Players must watch instructional video before practice:

3. Week 2 Practice Itinerary
