Week 2 Steve Hacker's Hitting Building Blocks

Outline & Summary of Week 6 Hitting Program

1. Key Focus: High and Low Pitches – Proper Hitting Posture

  • Keep eye plane the same regardless of pitch height.

  • Do not let pitch dictate body movement → eyes stay level, hands adjust.

  • Firm front side maintained at all times.

  • Avoid collapsing on low pitches and rising on high pitches.

  • Priority: Eye level and tracking > barrel flatness through zone.

MLB Examples:

  • Jose Altuve (Hit ’n’ Run on high pitch)

  • Dustin Pedroia (Low pitch hitting)

  • Mike Trout (Low pitch discipline and power)

  • Vladimir Guerrero (Versatility hitting all pitches)
