Get Them In From a Thrower's Perspective

BP Thrower’s Role

  1. Location Intentionality

    • Throw middle-in and middle-up pitches to help hitter work on lifting to the outfield (sac fly situations).

    • Mix in middle-away to force controlled swings that can score a runner.

  2. Game-Like Cues

    • Call out: “Runner on 3rd, less than 2 outs” or “Runner on 2nd, 2 outs.”

    • Keep tempo realistic so the hitter feels situational urgency.

  3. Round Design

    • 5–8 swings per situation.

    • Encourage hitters to think execution, not power showcase.
